Eyebrow Threading

THREADING EYEBROWS: AN EXCELLENT WAY TO GROOM EYEBROWS

Eyebrow threading definitely helps. It doesn't irratate the skin like waxing does, and is more precise and much less painfull.

If you are one of those people who endlessly dote over smallest of details and cannot handle anything less than perfect, grooming and shaping your eyebrows must be an ordeal. The simple solution is always going for threading because that can be the only way closest to what you want. Although waxing may be able to give fancy shapes but the shapes are available as stencils. The stencils are uniform and standard and the same for everyone. So there’s limited choice. What your face and eyebrows need could be quite unique owing to your different taste or rare face type etc. So whether you want the foxy thin lined eyebrows or the natural yet clean ones you can get them with threading.

Eyebrow threading originates from India and is probably the only way that eyebrows are shaped there. It involves the beautician or whoever is performing the threading to make a loop with a thread and twirl it a couple of times. The loop with the twirls at the center and the sides held by the beautician when applied with light pressure on the area of unwanted hair growth removes hair efficiently. The best thing about threading is that hair can be removed from the exact spot where unwanted and any possible desired shape can be achieved.

Ideally threading should start with removal of unwanted hair in the middle of two eyebrows and then go on to remove extra growth from the top and bottom. Any desired shape, length and thickness could be given. If the eyebrow arch is very high fill the lower area with eyebrow pencil strokes and remove a few hair from the upper section of the brow. When the eyebrow arch is low, hair should be removed from under the eyebrows and the upper area should be outlined with the eyebrow pencil. Those who are proficient in the process only should perform threading. If you are a self-learner a lot of practice is required before you can start performing it on yourself. Threading gives best results when performed by a beautician you trust and knows exactly how you want them. Eyebrows threading is done in usually every 2-3 weeks.

The only minor drawback could be the pain. Although quite painful the results are worth it and the pain is the same as in tweezing or waxing. Few quick and small home remedies to alleviate the pain are to rub ice on the spot to numb it. Application of astringent or toner is important after the process as a lot of open pores are caused because of the invasion. Post application a moisturizer works as well to soothe the area. With all this information in hand eyebrow threading could be a reason for double celebration; one because of the perfect shape and two because of the little pain caused.

Eyebrows Balance

Want a fresh look this summer? You may only have to make one little change for a new you. It's one of the first features people will notice about you. It has the power to captivate, enchant, and communticate. It's your eyes! Your eyebrows act as frames to your eyes. You may be blessed with amazing eyes, but your eyebrows are distracting, not attracting!
Overlook

Many women simply overlook the importance of well-groomed brows. They think that since they don't have a unibrow that they don't have to do anything to their brows. Wrong! You could be a diamond in the
rough, and it doesn't take much to get polished up!
Underdone

We've all seen them. Women who have almost completely (or completely) shaved their brows, only to draw on a thin, fake looking brow that resembles that 1930's look--just a tad outdated! Or maybe you've seen the lady that looks like she got into a fight with her cat. Not much left but a few straggly hairs. This is a far worse sin than overlooking-it's positively trashy.
Overdone

Although big brows were quite the thing in the 60's, the Jackie O' look is no longer cool. Big, accentuated brows just don't look good.
Overcome

Yes, you can overcome your eyebrow imbalance! Simple is the key when it comes to eyebrows. For the best brows, your best option is either waxing or plucking. Go with the natural shape of your brows. Just plucking the stray hairs should suffice; you needn't reconstruct your brows. Your eyebrows should start right above the corner of your eyes, and they should not be extended unaturally far. Make sure both brows look even. If you have any areas that need filling in, use a brow pencil with small, feathery strokes. Don't press too hard against your skin. Use a color that suits your hair. It looks silly to have a light pencil over dark hair. In addition to the pencil, you may want to apply a coat of brow gel to keep brows in place.

Eyebrow plucking tips

Eyebrow plucking tips to help you achieve beautiful eyebrows. be It all starts with a good tweezer and an idea of what brow shape fits your face.

Eyebrow plucking is an art. There is skill, patience and creativity involved. You'll need good vision, the perfect tools and a sense of symmetry. Finding your eyebrow style is a big concern, but learning how to create is the bigger worry.

For starters, look at your eyebrows in a mirror. Step back at least three feet so that you have a full, clear perspective of what your facial features. By taking a distant look at your face, you'll be able to gage what needs to be done so that your brows will fully complement your face.

Look at the shape of your brow. What's your desired shape? Do you want an arch, so that your brow peaks slightly in the middle or off to the side? How about flat brows that sit straight atop the eye? Maybe round brows that have symmetry like an upside-down While these ideal shapes may or may not work for you, it is important to have an idea of what shape you would like to achieve.

Next, access your hair type. Working with your brow type is easier than fighting nature. Are the hairs sparse and thin or are they thick and unruly?

If your brows are thin or sparse, try to maximize the number of hairs by plucking very selectively. Only remove stray hairs under the natural arch of the brow. Then pluck hairs one by one to achieve that dream brow shape. Always pluck in the direction from the nose to the ear. The brows are thicker closest to the nose and they should thin out accordingly. If you want an arch for example, gradually pluck hairs so that they peak a bit in the middle of the brow. Then tweeze the hairs so they get progressively thinner until they end and only a few hairs remain. Fill in the sparse brow with eye shadow or eyeliner. Both will add color and dimension to give the illusion that your brows are fuller and darker than they naturally are.

For course and unruly hairs, you may consider seeking out the help of a professional who can either wax or pluck your way to ideal brows. Thick brows can seem unmanageable and it's best to pluck the stray hairs under the brow first. Then start at the thickest part of the brow and tweeze particularly curly or course hairs. Work towards your desired shape and take caution not to over-pluck just because there are so many hairs. To smooth and tame thick brows, apply a dab of hair gel and style.

Here are some tips for all brow types:

Choose a tweezer with a fairly sharp, pointy head and make sure that it pinches closed tightly. Without a tight grip, the tweezer will never be very effective grabbing unwanted hair.

Pluck hairs in the direction that they grow. Doing so will keep the hairs smooth and will hurt less. It's also a good idea to tautly hold the skin right above the brow as you begin to tweeze--that will slightly reduce the pain of plucking.

Never pluck above the brow: those hairs will grow back thicker and more frequently and that will be messier and a bigger hassle than if you left them alone in the first place.

Don't pluck after you've applied lotion to your face. The skin and the brow will be very porous and a slick brow does not make for controlled tweezing. You may end up removing more hairs than you intended because the hairs clump together.

Be careful to pull the hair, not the skin when tweezing. While its easy to accidentally grab the skin, doing so may result in redness or bleeding. If redness does occur, rinse your face with cold water and apply a cold eye mask to soothe the flushed skin.

After plucking a few hairs, always stop to look at what you have done. You may be over-plucking and you might not even realize it. Stopping to access your plucking progress will help measure your results and prevent over-plucking.

Monitor hair growth. If you like the style you¡¦ve created, try to maintain it by grooming your brows every week. But be careful that you don't get carried away and over-pluck. If that happens, wait at least two weeks for the hairs to grow back in.

Eyebrow Grooming Tips

Shaped eyebrows will give you a well-groomed look. Learn the best technique for grooming your eyebrows, including tweezing, waxing and brushing.

Nicely shaped eyebrows go a long way toward accenting beautiful eyes. It's one of the first things you notice about a person's face, in a good or bad way. You can tweeze, brush, wax, spray or pencil your brows, but make sure you're doing what looks best for your face, and don't overdo any technique or you risk looking clownish rather than beautiful. Here's how to decide what to do.

Shape Not too thick or long, and please, no unibrows. You want to be able to see the beginning and end of your brows from a distance. If you're thin on the ends, try filling in with a good brow shadow and brush. The brow should start in line with your inner eye and continue to the outer corner. That's it. Hair between the eyes or way past the outer corner needs to go. Generally, a slight arch in about the middle of your brow is flattering.

Trimming Tweezing is free and easy, and as long as you only grab the hair, not the skin, painless. The trick with tweezing is not taking more than necessary. Draw an imaginary line, and only tweeze below it. Remember that the root of a hair may be blow the line, but the end of it may be a necessary part of the shape you want to keep. Be cautious when selecting hairs for tweezing.

If you regularly have quite a bit of eyebrow hair to remove, a professional waxing will be easiest. It's fast, affordable and you can avoid ugly accidents by letting a salon do the work.

Styling Now that your brows are groomed, pay a bit of attention to them when you're applying makeup. Use a small brush and brush the hairs up so they don't hang down below your arch and to keep them neat. You can use a light coat of clear mascara to hold them in place and give a finished look.

Not a lot of effort for quite a bit of impact. Don't let your brows go unruly!

Makeup Tips For Eyebrows

Eyebrows give a definition to face and grooming them and giving them shape can make your face look cleaner and more beautiful and make your eyes appear larger and more expressive. Eyebrow pencils are much in use but they may add artificiality to the face. A natural eyebrow look can be achieved by using brow colors with the help of short brush with stiff bristles. Too heavy brows add a Neolithic look to your face and are supposed to make you look wild and powerful. Here are some useful tips that you can make to make your brows beautiful:

  • Tweeze only the hairs underneath your brows to shape them.
  • Many people have beautifully shaped eyebrows naturally that just need to be defined instead of alteration.
  • Tweezing the brows after the shower is much easier and less painful.
  • To fill in the gaps in the eyebrow shape, use a color that matches the natural colors of your brows or a shade lighter than that.
  • For temporary shaved eyebrow look, use eyebrow wax to smooth them and hide them.
  • Groom the eyebrows using a clear eyebrow gel and an eyebrow brush. Comb them and pluck stray hairs above the brow line.
  • It is best to stick with natural shape usually and seek professional help for first-time threading.
  • Calculate the arch of the eyebrows by using the ruler. It should start from the side of your nose to the same line on the outer corner of the eye. The high point should be on the outer side of the pupil.
  • Fill the gaps with short strokes of the pencil.
  • Eyebrow color should be two shades darker than your hair color.

How To Shape Your Eyebrows

Julyne Derrick,

Few things make you appear more groomed than well-plucked eyebrows . Many women have their eyebrows tweezed or threaded professionally and the trend is so hot, eyebrow boutiques are popping up in big cities across the country. I recommend you have a professional do your eyebrows first to set a 'blueprint', then all you have to do is pluck where the hairs grow in. (A pro waxing should set you back about $20 depending on where you live). Here's some tips on how to tweeze your own eyebrows.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 10 minutes

Here's How:

  1. The biggest mistake people make is to tweeze too much. Avoid overplucking as it can take months for brows to grow back. Here's a simple trick to remember: The space between your brows should be equal to, or a little wider than, your eyes. To find where your brow should go, take a long eyeshadow brush or pencil and hold it parallel to the side of your nose. Where the brush meets your brow is where your brow should begin.
  2. To find the end of your brow, extend the brush diagonally from your nostril, following the outside edge of your eye toward the brow. Where the inside edge of the brush hits is where your brow should end.
  3. The best brows have a slight arch. To find yours, hold the brush parallel to the outside edge of the colored part of your eye (the iris). Where the brush meets the brow is where the highest part of your brow should be.
  4. Cleanse your skin. Exfoliating with a gentle scrub (I like Biore) helps prep the area as well. Worried about pain? Expert aesthicians suggest applying to the brow Anbesol, Orajel or any teething gel for babies. Brush brows up and out.
  5. You'll want to invest in a good pair of tweezers with a slanted edge (my favorite, hands down, are Tweezerman slanted tweezers: .

You also want to make sure you're near a window with light pouring in or under a bright light with a good mirror (magnifying mirrors are best, but be sure and flip it over to see your overall effect in the regular mirror).
  6. Make sure to pluck hairs in the direction they grow. Don't grab too many hairs at a time. You can hold skin taut as you pluck.
  7. It's a myth that brows should never be tweezed from above. You want both the bottoms and tops to be smooth. So be careful, but tweeze the top AND the bottom.
  8. Stop every few hairs to step back and look at the job you're doing. If you overpluck, you're stuck. Unlike most hairs on your body, your brows won't always grow back once they're yanked.
  9. Once you're done plucking, you can apply aloe vera gel, which will calm the redness right away.

Tips:

  1. To ensure your tweezers maintain their firm grip, regularly wipe the tips with alcohol to remove any oily build up. Also, keep in mind that Tweezerman will sharpen your tweezers for free when they dull. (I always lose mine before they become dull).
  2. If your brows are sparse or spotty, you can fill them in by pressing a brown shadow into your brow. Chanel's Perfect Brow Compact is the ultimate brow shadow. It's expensive, but worth the price. Plucked too much? Ji Baek, owner of Rescue Beauty Lounge in Manhattan suggests in Elle Magazine that you stimulate hair growth by massaging brows with a toothbrush.
  3. If you use a pencil to fill in sparse brows, apply with short, feathered strokes from the inside of the brow out. Then carefully rub brows with a brush or your fingertips to soften the effect.
  4. Brow gel helps keep your brows in place all day. Or if you don't have gel, apply a dab of hairspray to your finger and use it to keep unruly hairs in place.
  5. I've saved the best tip for last. The ideal time for brow-shaping is the week after your period begins.

What You Need:

  • A great pair of tweezers. My recommended choice: Tweezerman
  • A mirror, preferably magnifying
  • Anbesol or children's teething gel if you're afraid of pain

How to getting beautiful eyebrows

Getting a pair of beautiful eyebrows is one of the most useful makeup trick on the planet. Many women overlook their eyebrows, or sometimes even worse, overpluck them. When it comes to eye makeup, the eyebrows make an important impression. They frame the eye and give the face a polished look. It is well worth making the effort to get the eyebrows looking right.

Natural eyebrows

For perfectly groomed eyebrows in an instant, try combining through them with a brush to flick away any powder or foundation. Comb the hairs upwards and outwards. This will also help give you a wide-eyed look. Then slightly slick them with clear gel to hold the shape in place.

Grooming your brows

If your brows are spotty or sparse and you want to fill them in, there are several ways to do it.

1. Take an angled eyeshadow brush and press just a bit of eye shadow to the brow (medium or dark brown for brunettes, taupe for blondes or redheads, charcoal for silver or gray hair). Follow the direction of the brow and extend the brushed-on shadow to the edge of the eye.

2. Pat a tissue on top to blot up any excess. If your brows are really thin, you can pencil them in slightly thicker, but it's difficult to make this look natural. Take an eye pencil under the brow and follow the brow line out to the edge of the eye. Use your powder sponge to press some powder on top, very gently, to soften the line. Then use a brush to lightly fill it in with shadow.

Eyebrow Color

To define your brows you can use eyebrow powder or pencil. Apply powder, with an eyebrow brush, dusting it through your brows and taking care not to sweep it onto the surrounding skin. This gives a natural effect, and requires little blending. Alternatively, use a well-sharpened pencil to draw on tiny strokes, taking care not to press too hard or the finished effect will be unnatural. Then soften the lines you have made with the eye pencil by lightly stroking a clean cotton bud through your brows.

Quick Eyebrow Tips

  • Be careful about the distance between the brows and the length of the brows.
  • Always pluck your eyebrows in between. Don't pluck the top of the brow as it may become fuzzy.
  • If you have never plucked your eyebrows before, see a professional.
  • If your brows are messy on top, have a facialist wax them.
  • The most elegant brow is elongated, clean and simple.

Straggly Eyebrows

It's a fair bet you won't even notice your eyebrows until they look messy! Try tidying them with regular tweezing sessions. The ideal time after a bath, when your pores will be open from the heat, so the hairs will be easier to remove. Before bedtime is also a good idea, as you don't have to face the day with reddened skin.

Quickly brush your brows into place, so you can see the natural shape. Then pluck one hair at a time, in the direction of growth. First remove the hairs between your brows, and then weed out the undereye area. Tweeze any stray hairs at the outer sides. As a general rule, don't pluck above the eyebrow area or you will risk distorting the shape of your brows. The only exception if if there are hairs growing well above the natural browline.

Six Steps To Perfect Eyebrows

1. Brush brows upward. Carefully trim any excess hair above the top of your natural arch. Be careful not to take off too much at the ends or you'll have brow "bald" spots.

2. Look closely at the shape. Your brow should begin at your tear duct, peak at the outer edge of your iris and end at the outer corner of your eye. "Many women make the mistake of taking off too much at the outer corners," says Weston. "This slants the brows upward and makes the person look perpetually angry."

3. Prep your skin: Soak a cotton ball in astringent and wipe the brow area.

4. Hold a pencil in line with the outer side of your iris and note where the peak of your arch naturally occurs. From the arch to the outer corner of the eye, your brow should fall in a straight or slightly curved line, depending on the look you're trying to achieve.

5. Hold the tweezers at a 45 degree angle and pluck the stray hairs below the brow line. "Pull in the direction of the hair growth, or you may end up breaking the hair mid-shaft," says Engle. Follow your natural brow shape, not the trends. "It's very difficult to let your brows grow back into their natural shape after you've plucked them to death trying to achieve a particular look," she says.

6. Fill in sparse areas with a freshly sharpened brow pencil - be a bombshell; use light, quick strokes to draw in hair. Brow powder will give thin brows overall definition, and is great for a more natural look. Using the brow brush, sweep powder up and outward over brows. If you're a brow novice, a tinted brow gel is a foolproof way to keep brows in place. Lightly coat brows using upward and outward strokes. Wipe off any excess and allow it to set. Get Glowing!

How To Control Your Brows

Snipping instead of tweezing the brows might be all that is needed to control your brows. Here is how it is done.

  • Brush brows straight up and then check for hairs that are too long.
  • Snip any offending hair one at a time with a small pair of scissors.
  • Brush brows downward and check again.
  • Repeat the previous step, snipping any hair that seems to be too long.
  • Brush brows into place and check for any hairs that still might need attention.
  • Continue brushing and snipping until your brows can be brushed into place naturally.
  • Fill In Your Brows

    Filling In Your Eyebrows

The trick to full brows is to come clean, then fill in the blanks. Waxing director Eliza Petrescu of Avon Salon & Spa explains it for us:

    * Choose a pencil and powder in the correct shade. Women with fair complexions should use a blonde shade, those with olive tones should go tawny or brown, and those with with African-American skin should use gray.

    * Brush brows downward with a dry, mascara-like wand. To define the arch, use the pencil to draw a line along the upper edge of the brow. Comb the brows upward and outward.

    * For added fullness, dust eye shadow into the hairs of the brow with a stiff, slanted brush. Dip the brush into a tiny amount of powder and use short, gentle strokes while applying.

    * If brows have been severely overtweezed, brush the hairs in the direction of the growth, and fill in any visible patches with powder. Avoid adding to the top or bottom of the brows.

    * Comb a clear brow gel up through the brows to set hairs in place.

    Beauty Tips For Eyebrows

Your eyebrows add strength and definition to your face. Well groomed eyebrows enhance your beauty

You should pluck eyebrows before bedtime so any redness will disappear overnight. In shaping your eyebrows use your facial features.

Use a pair of slant edge tweezers which grip hairs easily. Comb hairs one way and then the other to remove loose hairs.

You should pluck hairs between the brows and any stragglers. Never remove the hairs from above your eyebrows.

Pluck each hair individually close to the root. Work in the direction of the growth.

Always avoid over plucking. In defining your eyebrows choose a shade similar to your natural hair colour.

When using a pencil you should apply in small, feathered strokes. Starting at the inner corner work outwards.
Blend the colour with a brush. To tame stray hairs just use hair gel and comb through to neaten.

    Tweeze Your Brows

    Which Tweezer?

Thin Tip: Good for grasping small, fine hairs, and plucking ingrown hair.
    Slanted Tip: Gives maximum control.
Square Tip: Best used for removing coarse hairs or several hairs at a time.

    1. Tweeze immediately after showering or apply a hot washcloth to loosen hair follicles.
2.Hold a pencil vertically along the side of the nose. Eyebrow should start at outside edge if pencil - Anastasia Soare eyebrow queen.
Hint: Leaving a bit more space will widen close-set eyes.
3.Hold pencil to outside of eye. This is where the eyebrow of a bombshell should end.
4.Smooth brows with a little moisturizer to help hairs slide out - turn back the clock.
5.Brush brows up to find a natural arch.
    6. Draw in the desired shape beforehand with a soft eye shadow pencil - Keira Knightley smokey eyes.
Hint: Don't use an eyeliner pencil. It will cause you to pluck too much.
7.Tweeze under the brow first, plucking in the direction of the growth.
Hint: If your plucking becomes too painful, apply a little anbesol (yes, that pain reliever for teeth also numbs the brows)
8.Using an eyelash comb, comb brows upwards and trim any hairs that extend beyond the natural top or brow bone. Glamorous lashes.
9.After tweezing, soothe the area with cool, wet tea bags.

    Eyebrow Waxing

    Eyebrow Waxing
    By Joanne Elliott

Unless you have very sensitive skin, waxing is a quick and relatively easy alternative to plucking your eyebrows. Although it is generally best to get eyebrows waxed professionally it can be expensive - up to around $15 as a general rule, although salons do differ. If you have a tighter budget, or if you are feeling fairly brave, here are some simple steps for you to try at home...

    1) Preparing the Eyebrow

Brush the eyebrow into place with a baby toothbrush or clean mascara wand, so that their natural shape is neatly defined. Next, apply an astringent such as witch hazel to anesthetize the sensitive skin under the brow. Work out your natural brow shape by standing several feet away from a mirror, and following these simple steps…

Working out the length of the eyebrow

Hold a ruler parallel to your nose, and level with the inner corner of the eye, to work out where the brow should begin. If your eyes are close together, make the gap between the brows wider. If your eyes are far apart, don’t wax the start line of the brow too much so that they are closer together. Mark the correct point with a dot.

Working out the curve of the eyebrow

You can work out where the highest point of the curve/ arch should be by holding a ruler from the edge of the nostril past the outer edge of the iris (the colored part of the eye) and up to the eyebrow. Mark the spot with a dot.

    Final planning

Now link up the dots in a gentle arch to draw on the ideal shape of the eyebrow that you want to achieve. This will give you a guideline to go by when applying the wax. You should aim for a smooth arched brow that tapers slightly at the outer ends.

    2) Applying the Wax

Buy a professional waxing kit - basically a jar or tub of wax which can be warmed up in boiling water and applied with a small applicator or spatula, and (usually muslin) removal strips. Each product varies slightly, so be sure to read the manufacturers directions carefully.

Warm up the wax to optimum temperature and use the small spatula to apply a thin layer of wax to the growth. Make sure that you only use a small amount of wax on the spatula to avoid the wax dripping when it is applied. Apply wax with the hair growth under the eyebrow, (i.e. in the same direction that the hair grows in). You don’t need to use much, and you should not let the wax dry.

    3) Removing the Hair

This is the painful bit! Ouch!!

Never wax above the eyebrow, only ever shape from below. Waxing from under the brow will widen your eyes and help to get the line even. This will make you look younger and much more glamorous if done correctly! As soon as it is applied remove the wax against the hair growth, (i.e. in the opposite direction that the hair grows in). This is done by gently smoothing a piece of cotton muslin over the waxed area, pulling the skin taut with one hand, and pulling the muslin off with the other.

It is a good idea to take a little hair off at a time, especially if you have fairly this growth. You will be surprised how much difference a little hair removal will make to your appearance.

    4) The Aftermath

Any straggly hairs left over after waxing can be easily plucked out using a set of good tweezers. Apply a soothing balm like tea tree oil onto the area afterwards. You should avoid direct sunlight, acid based facial treatments, and liquid makeup for several hours.

To give the gorgeous new eyebrow shape emphasis, use an eyebrow pencil or tinted brow shadow to subtly fill in any gaps, and even out the natural color tone. Don’t worry if you make mistakes, even if you have bald patches or empty spaces. Practice makes perfect, and anyway, the hair will have grown back before you know it!!

Beauty Foods for Blemished Pimply Skin

Camphor, sulphur, onion, garlic, curds, yeast, Fuller's earth, herbs and vegetable juices are all useful in treating a blemished pimply skin. Here are a few recipes (masks) which are very beneficial to such types of skin.

    Camphor:

Camphor BP has a healing, soothing and tightening effect on the skin. Mix together 1/2 teaspoon oatmeal, 1/2 teaspoon camphor BP crystals (or three drops of camphor spirit) and 1 teaspoon orange-flower water. Apply and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.

Two drops of camphor spirit when added to a mixture of one tablespoon tomato juice and one teaspoon honey make a strong astringent skin tonic. This tonic should be left on the skin for about 15 minutes.

To improve your skin and cure spots apply the following home-made skin tonic. Put 1 tabiespoon glycerine, 1/2 tablespoon borax powder, 1 cup distilled water and 3 drops camphor spirit in a large bottle and shake well.

    Sulphur:

Make a paste of 1 teaspoon pure sulphur powder, 2 tablespoons Fuller's earth and 1 egg white. Use this mask every day to cure acne. Some people are allergic to sulphur, so a skin test behind the ear should be conducted before use. If there is no reaction for a few hours, use this mask on the face every day.

    Onion:

Mash and sieve the onion, and mix onion juice into paste with 1 tablespoon. Fuller's earth or kaolin and 1 teaspoon of honey. It is good to prevent blemishes and wrinkles.

    Garlic:

Beat one egg white, then add to it the following ingredients to make a paste:

    1 teaspoon kaolin

    1 teaspoon honey

    1 teaspoon carrot juice, and

    1 clove of garlic

    Kelp:

Mix into a paste 1 tablespoon each of kelp and curd. Apply for 15 minutes daily to make skin blemish free.

    Plum:

Mash the insides of 6 boiled plums and mix with a teaspoon .of almond oil. This mask is especially good for acne sufferers.

Once you have lines and wrinkles on the face, nothing except plastic surgery can help. Surgery treatment is too costly in our country. Massage, however, can help prevent new lines appearing on the face. Toning up the muscles by massage and by nourishing the skin with skin food bring the blood to the surface.

    Eye Massage for Healthy Eyes

Do not rub the skin around eyes when you apply cream around them. The correct method is to start from the inner side of the eye moving towards the pulse spots. Exactly the same method should be applied for the upper lid. The correct method for the massage is as below:

    * Pinch the eyebrows working from the nose out. Squeeze the eyebrows using the forefinger and thumb. This releases the eye tension and strain. Repeat seven times.

    * Using the second and third fingers stroke around the eyes, applying pressure at the bridge of the nose and at the temples. Remember, do not pull or drag the delicate skin around the eyes.

    * In the end, wipe off the residual grease, and apply a little skin tonic or mineral water, which makes your skin soft and glowing.

To maintain eye-health and lower eye tension, there are several easy exercises. For the self lubrication of eyes, either blink your eyes rapidly for fifty times or rotate eyeballs in a complete circle, first clockwise and then anticlockwise, several times.

    Easy Tips for Healthy Skin

The skin is the largest organ in the human body, composed of cells which keep dying and being renewed all the time. The skin you had last year is not the same skin you 'have today. The skin consists of layers. The outer layer, called the epidermis, is a mass of cells in two levels.

The lower level of the skin is the living level and the upper level is dead. Beneath the epidermis we have the dermis, which is a jelly-like substance supported by bundles of collague fibres, and below this there is a layer of fat. Generally female skin has more fat which gives a soft and rounded look to the body. The epidermis is divided into five cell layers: the horny layer, the glossy layer, the granular cell layer, the prickle cell layer and the basel cell. The skin protects the body from bacteria, eliminates waste matter and breathes. The sebaceous glands which produce oil (known as sebum) keep the skin supple. Sometimes the glands overproduce sebum, giving us a greasy skin, and sometimes underproduce giving us a dry skin. The performance of skin in controlling water loss. and temperature in body is directly related to one's health.
The skin is one of the greatest indicator of good or bad health. The essentials for a lovely skin are: a well balanced diet, scrupulous cleanliness and skin care, regular elimination, fresh air and exercise, sufficient sleep and serenity or mental stability.

Diet is also of vital' importance and no skin can be hea1thy without proper nutrition. Try to avoid too much of carbohydrates, sugar, fried and greasy foods, cakes. and alcohol which can cause blemishes and blotchiness on the skin's surface. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. The skin needs vitamins. Vitamin A aids circulation and a lack of it shows in drying, scaliness and a weakness of the epidermis. Vitamin B is recommended by many dieticians to clear the skin of spots and as an aid to healthy hair. Vitamin C is necessary to purify and vitalize the blood stream. Vitamin E makes the skin appear more youthful. The skin also produces Vitamin D through the action of sunlight upon it.

Drinking sufficient water (at least eight glasses a day) improves the complexion. But do not drink in between meals.
